Bobo Piccoli was born in 1927 into a family of Milanese intellectuals. The Piccoli house was frequented by Mario Sironi, Carlo Carra, Giuseppe Ungaretti and many other artists. Piccoli studied the classics, and while painting became his main medium, he constantly sought a synthesis among the arts. This led to projects with architects such as Marco Zanuso and Roberto Menghi. In 1968, Piccoli began working with Fontana Arte, creating several lighting elements such as the Re and Regina lamps.
