The Castiglioni brothers are universally recognized as talented innovators of contemporary lighting. In this case, the idea that a car headlamp could be used as a light source led to the creation of the contemporary lighting industry's most famous ready-made. All the components from the transformer to the electric cable are exposed in their original form, thus eschewing any form of "shell" and giving validity and expression to the original esthetics of the individual, anonymous, non-designer components. Like many other projects by the Castiglionis, this light (1962) combines functionality, irony, and an under- standing of the zeitgeist.
Excellent condition.
